The Biko Brace is an assistive device designed to modify, improve and enhance
the gait of patients with impairments such as lack of proprioception and
ataxia due to neurologic disease. The Biko Brace is a supportive device that
encourages appropriate limb use, decreases scuffing of the toes, and assists
with weight shifting during ambulation. It is utilized during the time that
a dog is ambulatory. It helps them to move more efficiently as a unit. The
Biko is a simple-to-use device - adjustable and custom-fitted for each patient.
It works with a standard roman harness. The Biko should be prescribed by
veterinarians and certified canine rehabilitation practitioners who are best
able to determine whether the brace is appropriate and how and when to use
it.
