For elderly dogs
with arthritis or degenerative diseases, dogs with neurological problems
that lead to a weakened hind quarters, and for dogs who have undergone surgery,
great care must be taken
of their joints and limbs.
By allowing our
dogs to jump down from high places, we encourage injuries. Dogs were never
meant to jump down from our cars. Imagine what would happen to us
if we consistently jumped down from our kitchen table or desk. Special care should be taken, as your
dog climbs in and out of the car.
Trying to lift your dog
may cause both you and your dog some injury. Don’t risk injury to yourself
or your pet! With
a car dog ramp there is no more struggling or stress for you and your pet.
If you don't want your dog jumping up into or down from the car then
a dog ramp is the best answer. The dog ramps or stairs allow easy
access to your car, bed, or other high up areas without jumping.
A jogger will always start
off a run by doing some warm-up exercises. Our dogs are often asked
to jump down from a height when their muscles are not properley warmed up.
If you think about it their muscles are stiff and cold from sitting
or lying down and we ask them to jump into or out of the car on command.
Making that leap could cause severe trauma and damage.
THESE LOVING ANIMALS WERE NOT BORN WITH ARTHRITIS OR DYSPLASIA! WE
MUST GIVE THEM EVERY CHANCE FOR COMFORT THAT WE CAN. PLEASE START YOUR PUPPY
ON A DOG RAMP AND NEVER ALLOW THEM TO JUMP WHEN THEIR MUSCLES ARE NOT FULLY
WARMED UP.
If your dog is due for surgery it is advisable to get your dog used to
a ramp before any surgery has taken place. The use of a dog ramp can greatly reduce
the chance of re- injury. If your pooch isn't used to a
ramp BEFORE surgery, don't try it AFTER as any mishap can damage the surgery
site. One good way to get a dog to use a ramp is place the best treats that
he or she loves along the ramp and have someone standing on either side and
encourage the dog to get the treats. Practice makes perfect.
