Kei

Kei was rescued from Last Chance
and unfortunately he had suffered an injury to his leg which had to be plated
and he was still going through the healing process when he was adopted.
His owner failed to keep his buster collar on which allowed Kei to
aggravate his injury so prolonging any healing process. What should
have taken weeks to heal stretched out to months through this neglect. He
was a handsome dog that did not deserve the life he was subjected to
as he was left for countless hours at home when his owner worked. At
every opportunity he would escape and take himself off for a walk never going
far but the traffic around the roads where he lived made his escapades very
dangerous indeed. On the occassions he was bought down to the park
he enjoyed endless fun joining in the play and a good chase with the other
dogs. His only opportunity to bring excitement into his life!! On
the occassions he stayed with me when his owner was working away or went
on holiday he was a pleasure to have around.
It was a shame that after having spent so much money on the injury
to his leg Last Chance failed to carry out adaquate checks on his owner
before allowing the adoption to take place. I did approach Last Chance
to bring his situation to their attention and did offer, should they decide
to take him back, that I would willingly take this boy on as I could offer
him far better future than he consiquently recieved. At the age of
only 5yrs it was noticed that he had a swelling on his neck and his owner,
rather than let the vet investigate to determine the problem she opted
to have Kei put to sleep. This heart breaking news brought me anger
and pain as I would have willingly accepted any costs that his problem to
be investigated and treated would have incurred. Had we known the owners
intentions we would have done everything in our power to try and step in
to give this boy a chance, but we only heard of this after Kei had been put
to sleep. Too this day it still brings a tear to my eye that this beautiful
dog is no longer with us for the sake of a bit of TLC.
