Species affected: Cats, Dogs

Background: Certain breed types, families and individuals are prone to a greater incidence of infection.

Symptoms: Usually involve frequency of urination, household soiling, urinating just outside of a litterbox, hematuria, straining, and painful urination.

Diagnostics: Normally urine is bacteriostatic but when the pH, nutrient level and concentration of the urine becomes conducive to support greater levels of bacterial life, a bacterial infection can ascend from the urethra.

Special Notes: Any factor that contributes to stress, nutritional deficiency or imbalance, urinary stasis, or immune weakness can lead to cystitis.

Clears heat, reduces UT inflammation; bacterial infection
may or may not be present.
