New independant
research shows that diseases like Canine Parvovirus, Leptospirosis and Kennel
Cough are increasing rapidly and are widespread with many vets reporting
seeing the diseases in their surgerys in the past year.
A New campaign will be launched next March where dog owners will be offered
the chance to buy one vaccination and get one free for their unvaccinated
dogs.
National Vaccination Month is promoted by the Animal Health Company Intervet
and it wants to tackle the growing problem of unvaccinated dogs.
Records show that more than half of all dogs are not up to date with their
vaccinations and the number of nasty diseases, some of which are fatal are
on the increase.
From March 2008 dogs that have not been vaccinated in the past 18 months
can benefit from this scheme. A full vaccination course is offered for the
price of a booster representing a saving of around £30.00.
Currently Vets are registering
to participate in the full advertising campaign which will begin at the
end of February with TV and Newspaper advertising so you as a pet owner
will then be able to log on to find your nearest participating vet, print
a voucher, telephone your vet for an appointment and take part.
